Last playtime for Kona

It is last playtime for Kona and Foxy, because Kona has to go home tomorrow and major bath is needed. So, we don't want Kona to be dirty when going home. You can't tell from this clip, but Kona is looking pretty brown. Not only does he love playing and rolling, but he likes digging in the sandbox..aka...digging box. So, on Haleakala mountain side... the dirt is reddish brown, so the deeper they dig, the more "Aburn" they get.

As we move forward, I will try and include some easy and useful training tips that might help you and your pets. In this clip you might notice Barry putting his hands in the air with a motion with his fingers. Well, Foxy is a very shy, skittish dog...or was, and this motion she is comfortable with knowing that it is okay to play and jump. We will work on "down" and "stay" next.

Kona, Foxy, and Rodney

Yesterday we got a new guest...Foxy! Foxy immediately hit it off with Kona. Kona was super excited to have a new friend to play with. Good thing we waited to give Kona a bath. We want Kona to play with Foxy as much as possible before he leaves. I think Foxy will be sad to see her new found friend go. That is always the hard part. Foxy is from Wailuku and is with us for 3 weeks. Foxy is a shy one. We hope to help her out of her shell while she is here. I know that Kona has helped a lot so far. They just run run and play.

We also got a new guest today, Rodney. He is a chow who is an older fella. We are helping out an owner and the Maui Humane Society. Rodney was found out and about while the owner was away. So we were called by the owners daughter from Florida to help out, and the Humane Society brought Rodney right up today. Rodney needs some TLC from his experience. But, we will fix him right up and tend to his wounds. He is a big teddy bear.

I will try and get some photos up tomorrow.

Kona is a champion air swimmer

AS I mentioned before, Kona swims when you carry him. It's pretty cute. So, finally we have a short clip of him doing the swim after playtime.
You can see Sprinkles and Button in the background looking on, just smiling away.

Kona is having fun

Look at little Kona. His so cute and floppy. He needs a bath for sure. He has been having so much fun playing and running around in the play area and around the yard. He is now the King of the Kingdom now that all the little dogs are gone and he pretty much just has us to play with. But, he doesn't mind and neither do we. When we carry him he moves his legs like he is swimming. It is sooooooo funny and cute.
Here he is letting us give him some belly rubs. He loves his little tini treats his mommy left for him. In a couple days he will have another new playmate, Foxy. I know he will be happy.

Sprinkles and Buttons are here and love their one on one time. We tried to let Buttons play with Kona, but Buttons prefers to stay with her buddy Sprinkles. That's okay. Everyone is still having fun.

Gus just left

Gus's visit ended today. Barry took Gus to pick up his owners at the airport and then back to Kihei. It's very sad. Gus had a great personality and made us laugh at his obsession for the purple ball. He also started to get into playing with others. We hope to see Gus again. OH he loved watching movies. Barry got the dogs hooked on "Nacho Libre".

Today Kiko Kiko will be leaving as well. We will also be taking Kiko to the airport to pick up his owner and taking them back to Kihei as well. He is such a great pooch. He loves to play with every doggy guest. So until it's time, Kona (the little Maltese) are out in the play area having a great time.

We have our two other guest leaving as well, Nappy and Kekoa. They were here for a short two day stay. Kekoa loved to play. Nappy played a bit with Kona, but decided he preferred to be alone. He is an older little poodle, so his play times are in little spurts. He loves sitting outside in the sunshine though.

Spinkles and Buttons are still here and always look forward to their playtimes and having the area to themselves, and having their personal attention from us. Spinkles loves to jump up onto the platform and be king of the mountain. When Sprinkles is busy playing with us, Buttons takes that opportunity to run and snack on his food without interruption. I will have to try and capture it on film, as it is pretty funny.

Kona has left the building

Although Kona has left, the black puppy. Kona, the white multese, is still here. Kona, the puppy had fun even though he was a little limited with his injuries. Good thing little Kona was here to lighten up his days. So who does little Kona have to play with now? He has Nappy to play with. A little poodle who came yesterday afternoon. Nappy is short for Napolean, and he certainly has that Napolean attitude. Nappy came with Kekoa, a doberman, and are from Pukalani. They are only here for a couple days. Nappy generally doesn't like to be bothered, but seems to be taking to Kona very well. Kekoa has been playing with Kiko Kiko. Of course, everyone loves and gets along with Kiko Kiko. We are glad he is here, because he helps entertain all of our guests...along with entertaining us. We get a lot of laughs and fun watching him play.

Today we are sad to see Jesse leave. He is such a great boy. He just cruises around with us, and has been a great playmate with Kiko Kiko. This is the hard part...when our guests leave, as we begin to build a fun relationship with our doggy guests.

Our buddy Gus is still here, and still chasing the purple ball. He has become more interested in playing with the other dogs, although he still prefers humans. But, now he gets involved and romps around with the other doggies, and the ball. He definitely loves to watch movies during meal times and bed time.

The two Kona's

Here we have the two Kona's . Super fun. We have the black puppy Kona, and the cute floppy maltese Kona. Not sure why the photo is determined to be sideways, but had to post the cute little thing. Actually Kona and Kona are buddies. Hope we return the right Kona to the right owner. LOL.
Black and white ...hey isn't that a Micheal Jackson song? Anyhoo, the puppy Kona (the black one) is doing well from recovering from a broken leg. Kona doesn't really put weight on it, but it certainly doesn't stop him from having fun. Little Kona (the white one) is super fun and cuddly. Kona had fun meeting our friends Maltese doggies, Peanut and Lucy. Kona just wanted to play and play. Kona was happy to see some doggies the same size.

All of our other guests are still here and having a great time. Here are the 3 buddies,...Kiko Kiko, Gus, and Jesse. Gus has decided he actually like playing with other dogs. Jesse is such a good boy. He walks right next to you when going out in the play area. Kiko Kiko...well, he is just fun all around. His owners are very lucky to have found him.

Spinkles and Buttons, are having a great time. Buttons love to play with everyone. Sprinkles still needs to learn to play well with others. But one on one, he is such a sweetheart. He rubs against you just like a little kitty.

Cute moments

Had to share a couple photos that I just got of the doggies.

Just saying hi

Here we have our long term guests, Jesse (who is barking hello), Kiko kiko, and Gus. The little black cutie is Hana who is here until Sunday.
We also have another new black cutie who is a female. She can't play with the others as she is just recovering from a broken leg. We were watching to make sure she doesn't get too excited and jumps around while watching the others, but she does pretty well. She will sit and watch. I think she is happy to at least be close to others. When she is alone in the kennels she tends to jump more out of boardom. So this makes her happy.

Today we have to say goodbye to Bonzo

Today Bonzo is leaving. We are taking him to the airport to pick up his parents and take them home to Kihei. He made buddies with everyone, but mostly Kiko Kiko and Hana. I was hoping to catch them in action today before I had to bath him and take him home. But, everyone had breakfast and was just to lazy to play.

Tug of War

This morning Jesse and Kiko Kiko decided to start off playing Tug of War with a deflated ball. They are still going at it as I post this picture.

The play area

Here is a short clip of the play area. You will see Bonzo, Jesse, Hana, and Kiko kiko. Sprinkles and Buttons are in the seperation area until the others go inside and then we will let them run around and play with them.
Gus is inside taking a break. He was super tired from chasing...the purple ball. So we put a movie on for him to watch and keep him company.

Gus

So Gus the handsome Bulldog has arrived. He is super cute with a great personality. We think he gets along with everyone, but he doesn't pay antention to anyone. He loves loves balls. Once we let him in the play area, he ignored everyone. Once he seen our big purple plastic ball, it was love at first sight. Everyone else doesn't matter. He just plays and tumbles and plays with swims with this plastic ball. The other dogs try to get his attention, but it just doesn't work.

Had to say goodbye to Bell and Pepito

Yesterday we had to say goodbye to Bella and Pepito. We love having them, and we feel they enjoy their time here. Bella and Pepitio got to play with their old friend Bear, but also made some new friends as well. Bella loved meeting and playing with Kiko Kiko. I don't think Kiko Kiko has a problem getting along with anyone.

We also had to say goodbye to Koa and Mimi. They got in on the fun as well. We did get another guest, Jesse. He is super cute. Also, I did mention that we have Bonzo as well. He is having a great time helping keeping the others entertained. Barry is on his way to pick up another new guest and his owners in Kihei. They are using our pick up and drop off service to the airport. But, Gus will be here this afternoon. He is a Bulldog. We can't wait to meet him.

Cody and Bamboo say goodbye

Yesterday Cody and Bamboo went home. We think they had a good time. Cody came out of his shell and ended up playing with our other guests. I think he got tired of watching everyone else play, and decided it was safe to join in. Bamboo got out there at times, but mostly played with the littler guests. He spent a lot of time with Pepito.

We also have two new guests, Bonzo and Stormy. Stormy is a return guest who is here for the weekend. She has some fun doggies to play with, such as Kiko Kiko and Bonzo.
We added a platform to the play area for the dogs to run up on or lay under it for more shade. We also added another watering hole for the dogs. We hope they chose to play in there rather than the water troughs. So far, it isn't working. they play in all of them. Oh well! It's all about the fun.
Had to share a beautiful sunset from the other night.

Lot's going on!

Well, there has been a bit going on in the past couple of days. Today, we had to say goodbye to Gizmo. Kiko Kiko was very sad, but happy to find out that their owners live near each other in Kihei, and will be getting together at the park on a regular basis so they can play together. We are so happy about that. Since they played and played, and jump in and out of the turtle pool, and the water trough...Gizmo got a bit dirty. But, no problem...we waited until right before his owner came to give him a nice tropical bath. We wanted to let him play until the last minute.
Here is a sample of him splashing in the pool and playing so much that he knocked out all of the water. So many refills happened....but we found a solution....

Although Kiko Kiko had to say goodbye to his new best buddy, he still has Cody, Bella, Pepito, and Bamboo to play with....and...on Friday...Stormy will be back to play with Kiko Kiko. They met before while Stormy was here and Kiko Kiko and his owners made a sight visit. They got along very well. I posted a picture of them both during that visit, of couse, in the water trough.

We also have a couple other little guests. We have our buddies, Peanut and Lucy back, and a cute lil' puppy we are watching for a couple days for our neighbor. He doesn't have a name yet, but we have been calling him "Little bit". Super cute! Lucy likes playing with him. She kinda does the poke and run.

So, the solution that we have is to get a bigger pool. We know Kiko Kiko and Stormy will definitely want to splash around, and when the other dogs see them...they tend to follow.
I will post pictures tomorrow of the finished project.
